Have you wanted to capture the personality of your furry friend, or paint the majesty of a wild animal? In this series, you’ll learn techniques to translate their unique character, using your choice of acrylics or oils.

You will be guided through the painting process, from starting a painting all the way to finishing it, in Alla Prima style. Essential concepts of representational painting will be introduced and reinforced throughout your practice. Each week, we will learn different concepts, including various sketching approaches, the wipe-out method, and trying bold and brave free-form painting. We will primarily focus on how to paint your chosen animal (other subject matter can be explored if you choose). Demonstrations will be done in oil, but techniques can be adapted to acrylics.

Artist Bio Jessi studied drawing at an atelier in her teenage years. She attended art schools in Paris and the United States. Upon graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she worked as a 3D computer graphic artist on commercials, games, and motion pictures. In 2006, Jessi moved to Oregon with her family and has been focusing on painting ever since. For more information on Jessi’s work, please visit her website at https://www.jesartstudio.com/
