BOLD ABSTRACTION with SALEAM
Monday, March 9, 2026 10am – 2pm
Join local artist, Saleam, for an immersive, one-day workshop focused on his signature bold, abstract, and cartoon-inspired work. This workshop is designed for those looking to break traditional boundaries and develop a unique visual language. You will learn about Saleam’s artistic journey and the artists who influence him.
Artist Bio Saleam began as a street artist and quickly made his mark through large-scale murals and custom sneaker designs. He picked up a paintbrush before the age of five, and over time, has developed a signature style blending abstract expressionism with Afrocentric themes,
deeply influenced by his background as a cartoonist. His murals on Alberta Street in Portland have been featured on KOIN TV. He has a one-person show at Portland Center Stage (at the Armory) through February, 2026.
Supply List
o Surface: a 12” x 18” canvas is a good size for this class.
o Acrylic Paints: Bring the colors you have – be sure to bring black.
o Brushes: bring an assortment of sizes. If you don’t have Posca Markers, bring a brush you can make lines with. Saleam uses both.
o Posca Markers, if you have them.
