Description
PORTRAIT TOOLBOX – WHEN LIKENESS MATTERS
Instructor: Jessi Sevy
SATURDAYS, Feb 8, 15, 22
10 am to 2 pm
This 3-day portrait painting class will guide you in capturing the unique likeness of your subjects. We will use photo references with various lighting conditions to practice finding crucial elements that capture a person’s essence and explore how light, shadow, and color contribute to a compelling portrait. Students will leave the class with a deeper understanding of portraiture.
Reference photos will be provided by the instructor and emailed to you before the first class. Please bring a tablet or printed copy of the references to each class. You will have the chance to work from your own personal photos as homework assignments.
Demonstrations will be done in oils, but students may also work in acrylics and water-soluble oils.
